  • Why should I choose Rex Lott to shoot my headshots?
For actors, we think like a casting director. We understand the elements of a competitive headshot that attract the attention of casting people, which is the primary goal of a headshot. Rex prides himself on representing true skin, hair, and eye colors. His strength is direction. He will coach and guide you through the entire process to get your personality to shine through in a photograph. For professionals seeking a corporate headshot, he brings his experience of working with actors by capturing warmth, engagement, and personality. Many people are uncomfortable in front of the camera. His sense of humor and gentle direction puts even the most reluctant client at ease to capture the best version of themselves.
  • How do I book a photo shoot?
When you're ready to book your shoot, or just have a question, you can contact us through our contact page, email us at info@rexlott.com, or give us a call at 646-345-8597 to discuss scheduling.
  • How long will my session last?
The length of time you can expect to be at the studio depends on which package you choose and whether or not you've hired our makeup artist. Our 1-Look LinkedIn Package without hair and makeup services only takes about 30 minutes. Our 3-Look Star Package without hair and makeup lasts about 90 minutes. With H/M services for the 3-Look, we prepare for a 3-hour block of time, but it usually does not take quite that long.
  • How long will it take to get my photos?
In most cases, with sessions shot in our studio, we like to review all of the photos quickly with you directly after the shoot. Then we send you a link with everything that we shot (all hi-res files) the same day of the shoot. We know you're excited about your new photos and want you to have them right away. For final retouched images, please allow up to a week for us to complete the work once you've placed your order.
  • Should I hire a makeup artist for my session?
Generally speaking, clients shooting the 1-look LinkedIn package, prefer to arrive hair and makeup camera-ready. For female actors we highly recommend hiring our artist. Not only does she do a fantastic job getting you camera-ready, she is also on set the entire time to manage hair and to do touch-ups. The makeup artist can be hired by any client for any package, including men and children.
  • What types of backgrounds do you use for headshots?
We have a wide variety of colors to use for headshots. Generally speaking, we like to give you 2 options for each look. Weather permitting, we can also step outside for a natural light shot if you'd like.
  • Do you retouch headshots?
Absolutely. Each of our packages comes with retouches included. You can also purchase more if you'd like. Retouching includes things like whitening teeth, brightening eyes, removing blemishes and stray hairs. Rex's retouching is natural and clean with the goal of making you look like you on your best day.
  • Do you travel?
Our studio is mobile and can come to your location for an additional fee. This is ideal for companies who need headshots for multiple team members. Learn more about that HERE.
  • What should I wear for my headshots?
For LinkedIn headshots, you should wear what you feel represents you as a professional in your field. For actors, we recommend putting outfits together that lean into the character types you are most likely to be cast as. We are available to have a discussion prior to our shoot to come up with a game plan in regards to character and wardrobe. Here are some general wardrobe recommendations for all: Bring clothing that is comfortable, looks good on you, and fits your personality. Solid colors work best. Think deep jewel tones rather than pastels. (However, a pastel dress shirt under a blazer works well) Avoid all-white, flesh-tones, text, logos, and intense patterns or stripes (they distract from the main event: you) Avoid deep v-necks, turtlenecks, and mock-turtlenecks
